The all new Royalton Riviera Cancun (opened late 2014) is a new build property located 15 minutes south of the Cancun Airport along a great stretch of beach.
I had the opportunity to check this beauty out while I was down there in May, and WOW!!! As soon as I stepped in the lobby I knew I was going to love it.
Royalton is a relatively new resort concept, owned by Blue Diamond Resorts (parent company is Canadian owned Sunwing Travel Group).
They really seem to have taken everything that is great about other all inclusive chains and rolled it into one new concept - amenities such as unlimited reservation free a la carte dining, free resort wide wifi, free long distance calling to Canada & US, USB charging stations (including a usb port in your room safe!) and 24 hour room service are standard for all room categories.
Having stayed in a lot of all-inclusive resorts over the years I can tell you these are the little details that matter! This is a larger property coming in at 843 rooms - but it honestly doesn’t feel that large once you start walking around (No need for golf carts or shuttles to get around)
Because this property was built brand new from the ground up, they included elevators in all buildings – which is great for any mobility needs such as wheelchairs.
They built 4 sections total, in horseshoe shapes. Each section has their own pool and amenities. From left to right in the photo above:
- The Hideaway at Royalton - this is adults only and is marketed and sold as a seperate hotel. Guests staying here have access to the entire property.
- Diamond Club Section
- Main Section
- Family Section (awesome pool area for kids!)
The Wedding department is incredible, the pre-departure staff you work with for all planning are a couple of Canadian gals who are based in Ontario. There are some beautiful ceremony locations, including 2 different sky terraces which offer stunning views in a totally private venue.
FOOD --- amazing! I had the chance to have lunch at the buffet, I'm not usually a huge buffet fan... but this one was hands down the best I've been to. Huge variety with many different cook to order stations, which means FRESH ... you won't see food at this buffet that has been sitting around for a while! The Desert display was to die for, and there is a special kids corner with all the staples (chicken fingers, hot dogs..etc).
All of the other restaurants looked amazing as well, gorgeous decor and the menus all looked great, I can't wait to get back to try out more!
Overall this resort impressed me, I'm looking forward to taking my own family here on a holiday sometime, it ticks off all our requirements for a great all inclusive getaway :)
